🔪 THE GREAT MOTOR MASSACRE: This Halloween, Nobody's Outboard Is Safe!

Last year, we came for the two-strokes.
This year… NOBODY IS SAFE. 💀
Two-stroke. Four-stroke. Old. Underpowered. Unreliable.
If your outboard motor has been terrorizing your summers, consider this your official warning.
The Great Motor Massacre is coming to Clark Marine on Halloween, October 31, 2026!
And we've got our sights set on the engines responsible for ruined vacations, empty wallets, and an unreasonable amount of swearing at boat ramps across Maine.
We're talking discounted repower labor, manufacturer incentives from Honda and Suzuki, and some downright frightening opportunities to bring your boat back to life.

💀 Does Your Motor Have a Criminal Record?
Let's review the charges.
COUNT 1: Premeditated Vacation Destruction
Refusing to start on the one Saturday everyone actually has off.
COUNT 2: Grand Theft Gasoline
Drinking fuel like a college freshman at their first open bar.
COUNT 3: Disturbing the Peace
Making noises that absolutely, positively cannot be good.
COUNT 4: Reckless Endangerment of Family Morale
Making everyone wonder whether they should have just stayed home and watched television.
COUNT 5: Emotional Damages
That special feeling when you're three miles from the boat launch and suddenly start negotiating with God.
Sound familiar?
Well, we've got good news.
You can love your boat and still want your motor dead.
And fortunately, replacing your outboard doesn't mean you have to replace your entire boat.
âš¡ Love Your Boat? Give It a New Life.
One of the biggest misconceptions we encounter is that upgrading your boating experience requires purchasing an entirely new boat.
Not necessarily!
If your pontoon, fishing boat, or family runabout is still in good condition, a new outboard motor can make an enormous difference in how much you enjoy it.
Depending on your boat and engine combination, repowering can provide:
- Improved reliability: Spend less time worrying about whether your motor will start.
- Better fuel efficiency: Modern four-stroke outboards can be significantly more efficient than many older engines.
- Quieter operation: Enjoy your conversations, your music, and the sounds of the lake.
- Improved performance: The right engine can make a tremendous difference in acceleration, handling, and overall enjoyment.
- Modern technology: Newer engine controls, instrumentation, and other features can make boating more convenient.
- Warranty protection: Enjoy the confidence that comes with purchasing a new engine backed by its manufacturer.
And perhaps our favorite benefit?
Getting your summer back.
Boating is supposed to be an escape from stress, not another source of it.
If your boat still makes you happy but your motor doesn't, a repower might be exactly what you need.
🔪 $144/Hour Repower Rigging: We're Slashing Labor, Not Quality.
There is a lot more to repowering a boat than simply taking one motor off and putting another one on.
Depending on your current setup and the engine you're considering, your repower may require new controls, gauges, wiring, steering components, propeller selection, and other installation work.
That's why installation costs matter.
During The Great Motor Massacre, qualifying repower rigging will be offered at our discounted winter-work labor rate of $144/hour!
That's a savings of $23 per hour compared with our regular $167 labor rate.
And because we're Clark Marine, the work is still performed by our experienced team, using the proper equipment, components, and manufacturer guidance.
We're not interested in cutting corners.
Just costs.
Our team will help you understand exactly what your installation requires and provide an accurate estimate before moving forward.
The only surprises we want you to experience should involve someone jumping out of a closet wearing a Halloween mask.
Not your final invoice.
👻 Honda Marine: Seven Years of Protection? That's Scary Good.
We love a good horror story.
We just don't think your engine ownership experience should be one.
Honda Marine is currently offering its Dive Into Fall Promotion, and it's a fantastic opportunity for boaters considering a new Honda outboard.
Eligible buyers can choose between two offers:
Option 1: Seven Years of Honda Engine Protection
Qualifying new Honda outboards receive:
- Honda's True 5 five-year limited warranty
- An additional two years of HondaCare Protection at no extra cost
That's a total of seven years of engine protection, subject to the applicable warranty and HondaCare terms.
Imagine starting your summer knowing you've invested in a new engine with protection extending years into the future.
That's the kind of thing that helps us sleep at night.
Option 2: Up to $1,500 in Instant Savings
Prefer to save money upfront?
Honda is also offering up to $1,500 in instant savings on select new outboards.
The savings depend on the qualifying engine, and this is an alternative to the additional HondaCare protection—not an offer that can be combined with it.
The promotion is available October 1 through November 30, 2026, on eligible purchases at participating Honda Marine dealers. Applicable engines must meet Honda's purchase and delivery requirements.
Our team can help you compare your options and determine which offer provides the most value for your situation.
Because sometimes the best deal isn't necessarily the biggest immediate discount.
Sometimes it's the long-term peace of mind.
🪦 Suzuki 4-4-2: Your Old Two-Stroke Might Finally Be Worth Something.
Do you have a two-stroke outboard that's been causing problems since George W. Bush was president?
Or perhaps one that's been collecting dust in the corner of your garage for the last decade?
GOOD NEWS. SUZUKI WANTS YOUR DEAD MOTOR.
Well, sort of.
Through Suzuki Marine's 4-4-2 Program (Four-Stroke for Two-Stroke), qualifying two-stroke outboards can be traded toward a new Suzuki four-stroke engine.
And we're talking about two-strokes of just about every description.
Any brand. Any age. Any condition.
Yes, even that one.
At Clark Marine, eligible two-stroke replacements can receive 10% off the selected Suzuki motor through our repower program, subject to qualification and current program terms.
It's a wonderful opportunity to retire an aging engine, take advantage of trade-in incentives, and upgrade to modern Suzuki four-stroke technology.
But there's another part of this program that we really appreciate.
Suzuki's 4-4-2 initiative requires participating dealers to scrap or recycle traded two-stroke engines and direct the recycling proceeds toward an environmental organization.
As people who genuinely love Maine's lakes, that's a cause we can get behind.
Retire your old two-stroke. Save on a new Suzuki. Help support the environment.
Turns out, even an old motor can have a redemption arc.
But What If I Already Have a Four-Stroke?
Oh, don't worry.
We haven't forgotten about you.
Four-strokes can be old, unreliable, underpowered, and expensive to maintain, too.
While Suzuki's 4-4-2 program specifically targets qualifying two-stroke trade-ins, owners of aging four-strokes can absolutely explore repower options during The Great Motor Massacre.
Last year, we were selective.
This year, we're equal-opportunity engine executioners.
🎃 Why Fall Is One of the Best Times to Repower Your Boat in Maine
Here's the part that isn't particularly spooky but is actually pretty important.
You only get so many summer weekends in Maine.
Between work, family commitments, unpredictable weather, and everything else life throws at us, those perfect days on the water are precious.
We would much rather help you plan a major upgrade in October, November, or during the winter than see you sacrifice valuable boating time in July.
Clark Marine is open year-round, and our service department stays busy working on boats long after most of the docks have emptied.
That means fall and winter are excellent times to explore improvements to your boat.
We can evaluate your current engine, review available options, discuss your budget, and plan the necessary work around the boating season.
A repower might even be part of a larger winter improvement project, especially if you've been considering new steering, electronics, or other upgrades.
Wouldn't it be nice to spend the winter looking forward to your new motor instead of dreading what your old one might do next summer?
We certainly think so.
🔧 Is a Repower Actually Worth It?
Here is where we're going to be a little less murderous.
Not every motor needs to die.
There. We said it.
Sometimes repairing your existing engine makes significantly more financial sense than replacing it.
Sometimes the boat isn't in the right condition to justify an expensive new engine.
And sometimes a customer genuinely needs something different from their boat, in which case replacing the whole package might be worth considering.
That's why we don't believe in selling repowers just for the sake of selling repowers.
We want to know about your boat.
How old is it? What kind of condition is it in? How do you use it? What frustrates you about the existing engine? What are you hoping to improve?
Then we'll help you make sense of the options.
We want customers to feel confident and informed about their purchases, whether they're spending a few hundred dollars or many thousands.
We're boaters taking care of boaters.
And if we wouldn't recommend something to our own friends and family, we're not going to recommend it to you.
âš“ Why Repower With Clark Marine?
Clark Marine has been serving Maine's boating community since 1958.
For decades, we've helped families enjoy more time on the water through boat sales, certified marine service, maintenance, and engine replacements.
Today, we're proud to be known as Maine's Freshwater Repower Center and a Suzuki Certified Repower Center, offering outboard sales and service support for trusted manufacturers including Honda, Suzuki, and Mercury.
Our experienced team is here to do more than sell you an engine.
We help you determine the right horsepower, evaluate compatibility, understand rigging requirements, compare manufacturer programs, and create a plan that makes sense for your boat.
We work with boaters throughout Central Maine and the surrounding lake regions, including Manchester, Augusta, Winthrop, Monmouth, Cobbosseecontee Lake, Maranacook Lake, Belgrade Lakes, Waterville, Oakland, China Lake, Damariscotta, and beyond.
And when you repower with Clark Marine, you're establishing a relationship with a year-round marine service department that can help you care for your investment long after the installation is complete.
We take that responsibility seriously.
Even when our Halloween marketing makes us look a little unhinged.
💀 How Much Does It Cost to Repower a Boat?
We're so glad you asked.
The cost of replacing an outboard depends on several factors, including:
- The horsepower and model of the new engine
- Whether existing controls and other rigging components can be reused
- Steering compatibility and any necessary upgrades
- Propeller and instrumentation requirements
- Installation labor
- Available discounts, trade-in incentives, and manufacturer promotions
That's why we built something to make the process easier.
Our online Repower Calculator allows you to explore available engines, estimate installation costs, review applicable Suzuki two-stroke savings, and see an estimated drive-away price.
You can even explore estimated monthly payments if financing is something you're considering.
It's an excellent place to begin before having a conversation with our team.
And there's absolutely no obligation to buy.
